In the California Governor’s Global Climate Summit on Wedneday, an innovative agreement was signed between the CA EPA, Mexico’s equivalent SEMARNAT, Climate Action Reserve, and ECOLIFE Foundation. This agreement aims to implement and support forest management and restoration actions in the Sierra Madre Occidental of Mexico where millions monarchs overwinter. An innovative carbon offset program would be used to fund the program and benefit local communities from the ecological and economic values forests provide.
